New understanding of how the brain processes and stores words we hear

Neuroscientists say the brain's auditory lexicon, a catalog of verbal language, is actually located in the front of the primary auditory cortex, not in back of it -- a finding that upends a century-long understanding of this area of the brain. The new understanding matters because it may impact recovery and rehabilitation following a brain injury such as a stroke.

학생 글 첨삭, 어떻게 접근해야 할까

지난 2월 국립국어원이 인공지능(AI) 기술을 활용한 글쓰기 채점·첨삭 체계 ‘K-로봇’ 개발에 나선다고 발표했다. 올해 개발을 시작해 2026년 이후에는 대규모 글쓰기 진단체계를 운영할 예정이라고 한다. 이를 활용하면 체계적인 글쓰기 교육 및 신뢰도 높은 평가를 할 수 있고 공공기관과 기업체의 인재 선발 및 교육에 적용 가능하며 나아가 일반 국민도 글쓰기 자가 진단 및 첨삭을 지원받을 것으로 기대가 된다고 한다. 논술 수업의 ‘꽃’인 첨삭은 크게 서면첨삭과 대면첨삭, 내용 첨삭과 형식 첨삭으로 나뉜다. 15년 이상 날마다 현장에서 학생들과 호흡하면서 초등 저학년의 일기, 생활문, 동시, 초등 중학년과 고학년과 중학생들의 감상문, 논설문, 설명문, 영재원 자소서, 특목고 자소서, 대입 자소서, 대입 논술에 이르기까지 여러 종류의 글들을 지도하며 첨삭을 해왔다. 서면첨삭, 대면첨삭, 온라인 첨삭을 병행하며 여러 시행착오의 과정 속에서 학년, 갈래, 목적에 따른 접근방법에 관한 노하우가 쌓였다.
